Professor Jill Belch (Chair)
Professor of Vascular Medicine, Dundee
Professor Jill Belch graduated from the University of Glasgow in 1976 with an MBChB degree. Following her registration year as a doctor she entered an academic career at the Royal Infirmary, Glasgow, culminating in the award of MD with Honours. She became accredited in General Internal Medicine, Rheumatology and Vascular Medicine. She was appointed a Senior Lecturer with Honorary Consultant status at the University Department of Medicine in Ninewells Hospital, Dundee. She was promoted to Reader in 1992 and Professor of Medicine in 1995.
Her research interests have been into the inflammatory elements of vascular disease and she has over 300 publications in the field of inflammatory and atherosclerotic vascular disease.
Professor Belch is currently on the Editorial Board of Platelets, International Angiology and Vascular Medicine. She is past-Chairman of the Steering Committee of the UK Forum of Angiology and is currently the Chairman of the International Union of Angiology Council on Study Groups. She has been involved in the development of 2 International Consensus documents. She is currently Chairman of the International Consensus Document Development Committee on Raynaud’s Phenomenon. For the Royal College of Physicians she has been a Member/Secretary of 4 Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network Committees.
