Dr David Monkman

GP, Hertfordshire

Dr David Monkman

Dr Monkman qualified at the Royal Free hospital school of medicine in 1981. After completing training in general medicine and pediatrics he pursued a career in haematology for 2 years before deciding to enter general practice. He has been a GP now for over 18 years in north London. During his time in general practice he has developed a keen interest in the management and prevention of cardiovascular disease. He is a member of his local PBC management team, and held previous appointments as an elected GP PEC member and London deanery Tutor. He has been a GP/primary care representative of guidelines groups both at a local and national level. He is a member of the royal college of physicians, PCCS and GPIAG.

David is concerned that the importance of PAD which had been recognized in the NSF was not transferred to the GP contract, thus resulting in significant numbers of patients not being considered for well established simple and cost effective evidence based life saving/life extending interventions.
